We had a fantastic holiday trip. We went for a 10 day cruise on the Rhapsody from Durban to Mauritius and back. The trip was full of splendid experiences. We took a flight to Durban and stayed over at family for the night and then went early to the port to check in and embark. On setting sail, the ships entertainment crew, were instantly busy making sure that everyone had a truly awesome experience, starting with the sailing away party, to day time events and live entertainment every night till late.

We celebrated Melissa’s birthday on the cruise which was on the 30th of December 2005 and the kitchen staff baked her a special cake and brought it in on the formal sitting that night. They played Happy Birthday music and made a lovely fuss. Melissa was in her element.

The New Year experience was breath taking, because not only did we celebrate New Year for the existing time zone (we went through 2 time zones.) but we also celebrated it for South Africa. The time on the ship for South Africa’s New Year was 2 AM. So effectively 2 Parties! We had on deck dance shows, live performances, magicians and singers. What a blast!

Food and service was all 5 Star all the way with choices from Al la carte and Buffets for all to choose personal preferences.
The food also never stopped with 4 Full meals served per day and that excludes teas and coffees with cakes and biscuits during the other hours. (All this was included in the trip price – You only paid for alcohol and beverages not part of the servings.)
We sailed into Port Louis on the evening of 1st January 2006, it was too late for us to plan any family trip but went off early the next morning on an excursion on the island. The weather was not great on that day but we had fun and made the most of it.
On the 3rd (It was the traditional hot weather) we went off to the local markets and purchased T-Shirt and sundry from the Textile industries. The other markets did not interest us much.

Later that same day we left back for Durban. Another sailing away party and the works!
The trip back was not as rough as the forward trip and a lot more folks spent time on the decks. We saw flying fish and loads and load of water, beautiful and still. I felt so relaxed!
Finally we saw Durban harbour and the reality of it all coming to an end crept in. We enjoyed every single moment and will certainly do it again.

We have officially booked and paid for our family holiday in Decmber 2005. We going on a Boat trip to Mauritius aboard the Rhapsody. We are leaving on the 28th with a Flight to Durban, there we will be met by my parents whom will take us to the port where we depart.

The trip will pass through both Melissa’s Birthday (30 december 2005) and Richard’s Birthday (7th January 2006)

The time we spend on the boat is 10 Days and we will be on the boat or in Mauritius for New year. This I am sure is going to be a great holiday! We are **REALLY** looking forward to it, and hell I need it!

Richard had opted to not join us for the holiday. Personally I think it was a bad call on his part. but then he can do his own boat trips when he is old enough to afford it.

We only taking the children on the boat this once so they can experience a high quality holiday like this as well! Karin and I have been on a short 2 Days cruise on the Rhapsody last year December 2004 to “test the water” as such. We loved it.

After the Boat trip we will be staying for a few days in Durban to be with Family and Friends.

We went off this morning to watch movies, Karin and Melissa went to see Chicken Little and Jason and I went to see Flight Plan.

I was pleasantly surprised with the movie and enjoyed it. It had a different but really interesting story line. I’d love to tell you about it but that will defeat the object for those whom have not see it.
I would definitely recommend it. Rated as an action drama.

Chicken Little, was reported to be a nice movie typical for children … there was a bit of action … a little too overboard for the 5 year range but it was animated so i surpose that helps … drawn a little from War of the Worlds Story line in the movie … but I say nothing more not to spoil it for others.

Thats me over and out.

For those whom go there know what I am talking about and those who have not been there…. well **Tough** if you prefer to miss out.

The pub has gone through a whole new face lift and attract a far more mature crowed. Making a safe “water-hole” for all their clients. Their business hours are 11:00am to 2:00am the next morning, this is when they serve drinks.

The drink which I find interesing is there French Martini’s – Pravda … You go to try it.
