With the advent of me moving to Namibia, left a possible thought that the clarion user group will go south … this is not true. Even though the Clarion guys in CPT are all busy
, they make a point of getting together to discuss urgent matters at hand … and the not so urgent.
Check out the articles on how and where you can get information and help on Clarion . An Extremely good article published by Lesley Dean on the 12th October 2006 “Am I alone” see the blog . .http://www.clarionusergroups.com/
Also check out Softvelocities clarion community … very informative! Clarion community -> click here SoftVelocity
Moving to another country is a big adjustment and taking that decision is not something I did lightly.
There are family considerations and convienences we had previously which we cannot enjoy any longer … like sitters
We painted a large portion of our house to colour which better fits our style, as loud greens and yellows are not my (our) style.
With the green walls taking 6 coats to convert it to white … it was not so much fun any more!!! In hind site, I learnt a lot of “How NOT to change colours on your walls to white”. Putting white on directly is a bad idea as the bright colours shine through … what you supposed to do … (wish i knew that earlier) is to put on a grey coat of paint first and then apply the white… this apparently works best.
IVY, What a mess. People have the need to grow ivy on their home walls outside because it looks “nice” … well – whatever!
The ivy in our back garden was brown and deadish … I wanted it to go, but what IVY does is it “glues” itself to your walls and if you try remove it, it takes the paint off as well. (No good!)
The branches grow up into your roof and move tiles etc, thus damaging your property … If you one of those who think ivy is the thing you want on your walls .. think about your resell value and the challenges it comes with to get it off!
I am going to strip the paint on the outside walls in 2007 and redo (Paint) it to get rid of the IVY imprints!
Our garden has a lot of trees, greens and traditional desert flowers .. very nice .. it is in my oppinion just a bit to much, so we pruning and grafting it to suite something that we can keep clean and tidy.
See my next post about our EXTRA pets ..
PS:This is where I spend a lot of my working days… click on the link for the web site.
Today it was a scurry of running between different points to ensure all the boxs and furniture are properly protected and loaded into the Truck. Our transport company has thus far shown a high level of professionalism and competence. Thanks “Advance Transport”
In Less than 24 Hours we will be out of South African Territory and in Namibian soils – ok .. sands. Looking forward to the adventure.
(See you from the other side.)
We finally arrived at our house in Windhoek. Unpacking and getting the goods all in thier “right place”.
The move went well and none of the goods were damaged, our mover, advance transport , did a fantastic job to secure all the items properly.
I was thoughly impressed by the service of Web africa, I signed up for an account of 10GB for R570 per month vat inclusive and in less than 1 minute they setup my Client login area, got the invoice almost immediately after than and no more than 15 minutes later I received all the login and password details for the ADSL to be configure to point to them instead or Telkom ISP.
Very nice service! My Existing Telkom ISP account is going one way … away!
Soooo is you have an ADSL line an you want to get connected and need more than 3GB per month Click here and get the information HOT yourself.
Telkom do NOT offer Shared access, extendable access they only sell new login’s for new account config which is a drag since you now need to change your router information when you hit the cap. Web Africa provide a buy more if you need kind of service and then the best part is that you can connect up to 4 ADSL routers at the same time using the SAME account details. This mean that we can be connected at the Office and Home on the same 10 GIG! How cool is that!
Don’t miss out Click on the links! www.webafrica.co.za
Happy Interneting ….
It has been a crazy month or 2 just past and now it is all coming to the final stretch. Karin has organised all the boxes to go in an organised way documenting what is in each box. It has been one hec of a job for her to get through all this. Thanks Karin!
This left me space to continue doing my work thing … but now I have to get all the work things packed up and ready to go. What a task. What to take what to leave. eish!
For those who do not know, we are relocating to Namibia, more specifically Windhoek. We got ourselves all geared up for it. Movers are coming tomorrow … Monday and we off before the first break of light on Tuesday Morning.
Will keep in contact and update you on my blog.
Cheers to Friends, Collegues and Family whom we leave behind …. hope to connect again soon!
If you know someone with Arthritis and they do not know of the Arthritis Foundation in South Africa. Ask them to pop into the web site.
Contact details for the Arthritis Foundation are all available in various locations in South Africa.
The Arthritis Foundation is providing a lot of community information sessions in the next couple of weeks so do take a look and see how it could benefit you and the suffers around you.
Shameless plug – I sponsor the foundations web presence on the internet
Looks like a very interesting program … perhaps it will enable me to post more regularly
Thanks for the heads-up on this one Gary!
We had a fantastic holiday trip. We went for a 10 day cruise on the Rhapsody from Durban to Mauritius and back. The trip was full of splendid experiences. We took a flight to Durban and stayed over at family for the night and then went early to the port to check in and embark. On setting sail, the ships entertainment crew, were instantly busy making sure that everyone had a truly awesome experience, starting with the sailing away party, to day time events and live entertainment every night till late.
We celebrated Melissa’s birthday on the cruise which was on the 30th of December 2005 and the kitchen staff baked her a special cake and brought it in on the formal sitting that night. They played Happy Birthday music and made a lovely fuss. Melissa was in her element.
The New Year experience was breath taking, because not only did we celebrate New Year for the existing time zone (we went through 2 time zones.) but we also celebrated it for South Africa. The time on the ship for South Africa’s New Year was 2 AM. So effectively 2 Parties! We had on deck dance shows, live performances, magicians and singers. What a blast!
